FAQ's
Below we have listed the most commonly asked questions we have received and our own hand hints and tips, should none of these answer your question, please inform our team via our contact page here.
Q - How should I store my bottle?
A - We recommend storing your bottle with the lid off. This will help keep your bottle looking and smelling fresh. Allow your bottle to air dry completely with the lid open. This will help to avoid unwanted moisture build up in your bottle and around the seal.
Q – What liquids can I use in my bottle?
A – Are current range are all unlined vessels, and are best suited for plain water, avoid using fizzy liquids such as mineral water and soft drinks as this can cause excessive pressure build up in your bottle which could lead to breakage, as copper is a conductive material, NEVER USE HOT/BOILING liquid.
Q – How do I wash my bottle; can it go in the dishwasher?
A - Handwashing is advised with luke warm soapy water and then it must be rinsed thoroughly immediately afterwards with fresh water to prolong the longevity of our bottles, DO NOT place in a dishwasher, this is generally sufficient however if further cleaning is required you can use lemon juice or any other acidic item to clean your copper vessel, BUT DO NOT let the mixture sit in the bottle for any length of time and ensure the bottle is thoroughly rinsed out with clean fresh water and let to dry naturally, NEVER DRINK the solution during or after cleaning. The acid in the liquid dissolves the natural surface tarnish layer into it and increases the copper content and is toxic if ingested.
Q – Can I infuse the water in my bottle?
A – Yes, but please do not use ANY acidic substances for drinking purposes in your unlined bottles.
Q - Can I put hot water in my bottle?
A - No - Please do not put hot water in the vessels. Not only can it hurt and burn you, it will increase how much copper and how fast it dissolves into the water.
Q - How are your items packed?
A – We are very aware of our carbon footprint and constantly reviewing it to eliminate as much plastic as possible from our packaging without compromising our product – We use recycled card for our boxes and want whatever you receive from us to be as low carbon impact as possible.
Q – Will the water taste metallic?
A – 99% of the time No, The water should taste refreshing, chilled and smooth, however sometimes it may have a slightly metallic taste during the 1st few uses, but it should not be unbearable, this occurs due to nature of this being a natural copper product once in regular use this is reduced. See tips below to avoid this, to help combat this in the 1st few uses all our bottles are rinsed when leaving our manufacting plant and then again upon reaching our fulfilment centre in the UK, We recommend washing in mild soapy water and rinsing before the 1st use.
Some Handy Tips
Make sure you add water to your bottle before dropping in ice cubes to avoid spillage.
With certain models in our range, the lids may feel a little sift/squeaky, although every attempt is made to avoid this, due to our products being individually handcrafted it can sometimes occur, it’s a easy fix though, just apply a little natural wax/oil (we recommend coconut oil) to the thread and Hey Presto!!, no more squeaky lid.
If there is an overpowering metallic taste in your water, tip out the water and replace it, this generally happens if you have let water sit too long in the bottle - 4-8 hours is the sweet spot, try and avoid leaving water in longer then 8 hours.

IMPORTANT HEALTH WARNING – MUST READ
You can have too much of a good thing, although essential for good health in small amounts, very high levels of copper could cause copper toxicity, which may result in nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and headaches. The WHO currently recommends that drinking water should try to achieve a level of 1.3 Mg/L or 1.3 PPM of copper to be safe for consumption throughout the population. On average, water stored in these vessels should only reach a level of 0.4PPM or 0.4MG/L after being stored in them for 8 hours. (this may very depending on the water in your area/bottled brand). You should never reach a level that could cause your body any harm.
If you suffer from copper sensitive conditions/illnesses, such as Wilson's disease, we advise you not to purchase and/or use our products.
If you think you may be sensitive towards copper consumption, please consult your doctor or GP before purchasing.
